Magdala, Caesarea Philippi, Mt Bental and Golan Heights, Jordan River

Today was another full day and the range of weather (snow to fresh springs to lush green valleys) and emotions (reverence, grief, joy, laughter, tears) was a bit overwhelming. Several pilgrims will post their reflections tomorrow, but for now here are a few pictures.

Synagogue floor in Magdala. The mosaic tile had ripples, showing the effects of an earthquake which is not uncommon in the Jirdan Rift Valley.

A teaching about the transformation of Mary from Magdala and how she became the first evangelist-apostle to tell f Jesus' resurrection. Virginia Siegfried commented that she wondered if Mary's healing was immediate or over time. Often our healing comes in stages....

DMZ of Golan Heights--border between Israel and Syria. Snow everywhere and sobering reminders of the valley of tears yet picturesque scenes of Mt Hermon.

We moved next to Caesarea Phlippi where Jesus asked the question--who do you say that I am? Saw the statues and temple of Pan, place of human sacrifices and where a temple to Zeus stood--all exactly as Jesus would have seen it.

Pictures from remembering our baptism at the head of the Jordan River. Some were immersed and others were sprinkled.

Those who endured the cold!
